When travelling to a hearing centre becomes difficult

A home visit may be suitable when your parent:

  • has difficulty travelling;
  • no longer drives;
  • gets tired quickly;
  • lives alone;
  • regularly postpones appointments;
  • prefers to be accompanied by a relative;
  • hears less well during conversations, while watching television or on the phone.

Not sure yet whether hearing aids are needed?

That is precisely the purpose of the first assessment: to understand the situation and determine the next step, with no obligation to purchase.

How does the first hearing assessment at home work?

Understanding the difficulties

The audiologist speaks with the person and, if they wish, with a relative in order to understand the situations in which they hear less well and the impact this has on their daily life.

Examining the ears and assessing hearing

The audiologist examines the ear canal and the visible part of the eardrum, then carries out a hearing assessment using portable equipment.

Please provide as quiet a room as possible so that the test can be carried out under suitable conditions.

If a build-up of earwax or an apparent abnormality is observed, the person is referred to an ENT specialist.

Explaining the results and next steps

At the end of the assessment, the audiologist clearly explains:

  • what the results show;
  • whether an ENT consultation is needed;
  • whether hearing aids may be considered;
  • the next medical and administrative steps;
  • the possible reimbursement options, subject to the applicable conditions.

No purchase is requested during the first assessment.

If hearing aids are being considered

When the results and the person’s situation indicate that hearing aids may be appropriate, the audiologist presents solutions that could meet their needs.

The choice takes into account:

  • their hearing;
  • the shape of their ears;
  • how easily they can handle the devices;
  • their phone;
  • their habits;
  • the situations in which they would like to hear better;
  • their budget.

Audio Clinic is an independent hearing centre and works with several leading brands.

This makes it possible to compare different solutions based on the needs identified, without being limited to a single brand.

Prices, trial conditions and follow-up arrangements are explained before any decision is made.

The trial period

If the person wishes to continue, the selected hearing aids are ordered.

A second appointment is then arranged to:

  • fit the hearing aids;
  • carry out the initial adjustments;
  • explain how to use them;
  • begin a one-month trial period.

During the trial, the settings can be adjusted based on the patient’s feedback and the checks carried out.

The final decision is made after the hearing aids have been tried in everyday life.

Why choose Audio Clinic?

An experienced team, dedicated to your hearing

Your care does not depend on one person alone. The audiologists at Audio Clinic follow a shared, rigorous and personalised approach, both in our centres and during home visits.

An independent, multi-brand hearing centre

We work with several leading brands so that we can compare different solutions based on your hearing, your needs and your daily life, without being limited to a single brand.

Settings verified through precise measurements

Whenever possible and appropriate, we use real-ear measurements to measure the sound level delivered in the ear and check that it matches the fitting targets.

These measurements complement the patient’s feedback and allow the hearing aids to be adjusted more precisely.

Trusted by hundreds of patients

Since Audio Clinic was founded, hundreds of people have entrusted us with their hearing. This trust and the many recommendations we have received have made Audio Clinic the most recommended hearing centre in Brussels and the surrounding area.

Two physical centres for ongoing support

After the home visit, follow-up appointments can also take place at our centres in Stockel and Kraainem: checks, adjustments, maintenance and long-term support.

Your relatives are welcome

With the patient’s consent, a partner, child or caregiver may attend appointments, ask questions and take part in the discussions.
